I Did This Myself Over a Summer

Exterior look of a Character Home

Before and After

These are the things that I did:

Changed the window style to bay windows
Replaced front staircase and railings
Replaced front door
Replaced front fence

Embarking on a summer DIY project, this began with some planning and preparation. The first step involved researching and selecting the ideal materials and design. With a clear vision in mind, it was time to roll up the sleeves and dive into the hands-on work.

  1. Window Upgrade: The renovation kicked off by tackling the window upgrade. Carefully measuring and removing the old windows, I ensured a precise fit for the new bay windows. Installing these beauties required precision and patience, but the reward was evident in all the new natural light.

  2. Front Staircase Renovation: Moving on to the front entrance, the tired-looking staircase and railings were due for a makeover. Armed with the necessary tools and materials, I dismantled the old structure, making way for the new. Installing the fresh staircase and railings not only added a modern touch but also ensured safety and accessibility for all.

  3. Front Door Replacement: With the staircase complete, attention turned to the front door. Removing the old door and frame, I carefully installed the new, sturdy front door.

  4. Fence: Outside, the aging front fence was in dire need of attention. I replaced the old fence and armed with paintbrushes and fresh stain, I had changed the fence, giving it a new lease on life. The refreshed fence not only enhanced the property's curb appeal but also provided a sense of separation.

Throughout the project, attention to detail and a methodical approach were key. From precise measurements to careful installations, each step contributed to the overall success of the renovation. As the summer days passed, the fruits of my labor were evident in the transformed home, and it was intensely satisfying.
